The Courtyard House

The brief was simple: a modern home that echoed the warmth of a grandparent's house. In response, the traditional internal courtyard, the 'Thotti Mane', was reinterpreted and crowned with a skylight that draws daylight and air deep into the rooms. Exposed brick, compressed earth blocks, reclaimed wood and handmade Athangudi tiles keep the home naturally cool and deeply sustainable, cultural heritage carried into a modern, low-carbon way of living.
